The Gumeracha Fair Players is a group of theatrical style entertainers affiliated to the Gumeracha Medieval Fair, who are committed to presenting a wide variety of events including street theatre, medieval tournaments and many other items that will provide entertaining and theatrical performances for the public at the Fairs. Areas of interest include stage fighting techniques, basic acting techniques, costumes, armour, scenery and props construction.
The inaugural performance for the Gumeracha Fair Players was at the 2011 Fair in which we presented ‘The Wayward Son’ which was a story of greed, corruption, bravery and retribution set to the backdrop of the Medieval thirteenth century. It told of the hardships experienced by the recently widowed Lady Eleanor and her family, and her attempts to seek justice from the Sheriff, William de Furnival. All was going badly for the Fitzwarren family until her sons Matthew and James returned to settle all their problems with a bold challenge and a fight to the death!
At this years fair the story continues with a presentation of 'The Tournament' where the deposed Sheriff, attempts to regain his lands by arriving unexpectedly at the fair with a band of mercenary knights.
Also in 2011 we introduced our pet dragon, Rufus who wandered about the fairground entertaining all the children.
